It's the option to use the new beta web interface with improved contact management and so on. DO you have your Gmail set to US English Fab? If you can get it in German but I can't in UK English I'll be pissed off
Go to "settings" it's on the first page, language is at the top. I tried setting it to US English and I got IMAP then I went back to UK English and magically I got "Ye Olde Gmail" again. They must think we like that sort of thing being English :D
Well there is a speacil section regarding iphone and its ok if I spell it that way right ? this is a link for setting up the Iphone in gmail if thats what your after Fabs https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77702 but you also have to be signed into gmail to see this link
As long as that fanagling isn't in anything other than good ol' US English, it doesn't work in French either, I didn't try any other languages but I saw a pattern developing. Maybe it's because they're calling it beta they don't much language support.
I've been waiting a while to see this IMAP support appear on my account and it would have been nice to know that it didn't work in any other languages, I had to search around in the help. Just a banner or something if you're not using US English would have been nice
I already have it set up with IMAP. Works really well. I even got it into my home network with the 63 char GRC password. It's not as hard as Steve makes it out to be.... ;)
Yes that's true there's not even any Aussie option on there. I just chose UK English cos it was there and if it had just said English I would have left it and never thought about it.
Just an observation in case anyone else has their language set to something other than US and they're patiently waiting for IMAP. You'll be waiting a long time

If I switch to US English I can have IMAP and an updated web interface. It seems that I have to spell colour as color and then I'll be accepted. Nice

What's the updated interface? I have IMAP but I can't see anything else that's new....

Most of the updates are "under the hood".

You mean all of them? How can it be v2 and beta at the same time, anyway? ;)

I have it set to US. I also have IMAP. It's just that the interface is still the same! Beside IMAP, there's nothing new....

The contact manager is all AJAX and flashy, dunno what else is different but I also noticed a link on the top right menu that says "older version".

Nope, I definitely still have v1. v1 and IMAP. Maybe it's because I'm on Google Apps?
