Arrrgghghghhhghghgh!!!! The "Highly Bullshit Times" more like. Why don't they spend some of that money on making a usable OS instead of constant campaigns slagging Linux off.

On Linux.com??!! That was what got me. I suppose they just take whatever ads Google insert on the page, I forgot to get a screenshot as I was too busy being angry and now the add has changed. It must be random

Windows sucks! That's why they have to slag off Linux.

Basically yeah, anything to deflect some of the attention away from how crap their own software is. I shouldn't let it bother me as if anything it proves how desperate they are, 5 years ago they didn't acknowledge Linux existed. At least now they are scared.

You can run but you can't hide MS, the penguins are coming for you :)

Yes it is very sad and I don't blame them either because for people who don't anything about it the very faint possibility of any legal problems is enough to scare them off. It's a protection racket by Microsoft, pure and simple.

"Give me some money for protection because otherwise you never know what may happen" they're just gangsters

I do block some ads by using NoScripts to control what Javascript I allow for site but I'm not worried about blocking all of them.

The things that annoys me is this, I don't use Google Ads but if I did and I had Linux as one of my keywords my own site would be showing these bloody MS adverts right now. Having no knowledge of how Google Ads works for the site admin is there some way I could say I didn't want any ads from Microsoft easily without blocking the whole Linux category? Does anyone know?

That's what I was afraid of, surely Google should do something about this as misrepresentation but I don't suppose they can. If they take Microsoft's money then they have to deliver the ads :(

Exactly they are supposed to be but as I am always saying only one thing matters to all these companies and that's the bottom line. They will take anyone's money, no questions asked. I wonder if they'd take ads for MSN search though? That's an interesting one

I worked out a very good analogy to Microsoft & Google over the weekend. You will hear it on the next LO episode....
